TREmendous Que is a competition barbeque team and private event caterer. The team was founded in 2015 by Owner/Pitmaster Wade Morris with the help of his wife Christin. Wade and Christin named the team after their first born son, Wade III. Since they've started they have competed in BBQ Competitions all over Florida and catered small and large events from 10 up to 225 people. TREmendous Que cooks authentic 100% hardwood smoked barbeque using locally sourced wood. While serving on active duty, Wade will continue cooking barbeque competitions and catering to his local area. The goal is to retire after 30 years of service and cook full-time with his wife!
This whole thing could be credited to Wade's youngest child. On a random Saturday early in Fall 2014, Wade was sitting on the couch with his daughter, Kenzlee just under 5 months old, sleep on his chest. waiting for college football to start. All parents know that sleeping infants are sacred and will go to great lengths to keep them in this angelic state for as long as possible. So rather than moving, he started flipping through the channels looking for something to kill the time. He landed on BBQ Pitmasters!
It was a marathon, he ended up watching a whole season of Pitmasters that day and went out the next day to buy a smoker from Home Depot. Wade and his wife started hosting friends and family in Ohio and cooking until snow fell that winter. In the spring of 2015, he got orders to Florida and was excited for the year round BBQ. Once in Florida he entered his first BBQ Competition with virtually no knowledge of what was required but enough enthusiasm to make up for the lack of 'know-how'. Wade rented a U-Haul packed up his Charbroil Smoker and Kettle grill pulled to the Showmen's Center in Riverview, Florida. He heard the murmurs, "Who's the guy in the U-Haul?" "Is he really cooking on a Charbroil?".
Well he pulled up and pulled out with 2nd place finish in Ribs and Brisket as well. He was hooked! He had caught the bug. BBQ officially became a part of the Morris household. Competitions are what drives our team but catering is what funds us, so thank you to all of our customers!
TREmendous Que is named after Wade and Christin's first born, Wade F. Morris III, nicknamed TRE. He was born on July 8, 2010. Wade and Christin were pregnant with their first born and went in to the hospital for a routine pregnancy check up. Christin's water levels were concerningly low so the doctor order her to go home, rest, drink plenty of water and return the next day. During the follow up appointment, Christin's water levels had fell even lower. The OB-GYN decided to do an emergency C-Section that day and their son was born July 8, 2010.
For all intents and purposes, TRE was healthy considering the circumstances and being born two and half months early. But three days after he was born his health started taking a turn for the worse when his organs began to fail and he was transferred to St. Jude's Children Hospital on July 14, 2010. There his health continued to decline until his passing on July 17, 2010. Wade and Christin were devastated because the doctors could not determine the cause of death. It was just over six months later with multiple blood tests that they were able to receive some closure. TRE had suffered from a Carnitine Palmitoyltransferase deficiency which has a 95% mortality rate.
When it came time to name their Competition BBQ team, Wade and Christin instantly agreed on TREmendous Que. It is always spelled with a capital 'TRE' and pronounced 'Trey-mendous Que' in order to remind them and all their customers that TRE is always watching over and blessing them and their customers.
RIP Wade 'TRE' Morris III July 10, 2010 - July 17, 2010.
